Concerns have been raised about the potential for coronavirus to make its way into our school system. Currituck County Schools has reached out to the local health department and advised that the procedures put in place by the CDC will be followed. That guidance stipulates that American citizens, lawful permanent residents, and their families who have been in China in the past 14 days will be allowed to enter the United States, but will be redirected to one of 11 airports to undergo health screening. Depending on their health and travel history, they will have some level of restrictions on their movements for 14 days from the time they left China. This travel guidance does not pertain to other countries in the Asia Region, only China. The CDC further provides information on what the public should do in response to the virus. Attached is the CDC flyer for informational purposes. At this time, CCS has no reports of student or staff travel to China. As always, we will continue to keep you informed and answer any questions you may have.
