2026-2027 Academic Calendars

At the March 19, 2026, Board of Education meeting, the 2026-2027 Academic Calendar was adopted. Please note that the J.P. Knapp Early College High School calendar (purple on the left below) differs from the traditional calendar (blue on the right below) that all other schools in the district follow. 

*As an early college high school, J.P. Knapp has legislative autonomy to operate outside of the calendar law required of traditional public schools.

School Calendars for North Carolina Public Schools are governed by North Carolina General Statute 115C-84.2.  

Please Note:

Unforeseen circumstances, such as significant weather events, may require academic school year calendar adjustments. In such instances, the Board of Education would revisit the calendar. For example, in the case of the 2026-2027 calendar, if calendar adjustments are warranted, changes might include extending the first semester beyond Winter Break or adjusting the school year's end date.

If circumstances arise that require a review of the approved school calendar - such as a severe weather event that significantly disrupts the original schedule - Currituck County Schools will ensure that families are notified promptly and kept informed throughout the process. Any adjustments made to the calendar after approval will be communicated clearly and in a timely manner to help families plan accordingly.
