    General information about the program:

North Carolina Driving School is the company who provides the Driver Education for Currituck County High School. Student's must be an age of 14 1/2 to take the course; however, due to the amount of students needing Driver's Education students often do not get placed into a class until they are 15. Classes are created based on age and birthday; however, attendance, behavior, and grades do factor in with regards to placement in a class. There is a $25 fee for Driver's Education which goes directly to the North Carolina Driving School on the first day of the class.

    Once enrolled in the class:

Attendance is 100% mandatory. It is a 30 hour course which takes place Monday through Thursday from 3:15pm-6:15pm (during school year), and 8:00am-12:00pm (during Summer). Upon completion of the classroom portion, students will then take the 6 hour behind-the-wheel portion of the course. *Parents please make sure that your phone numbers are accurate so that the instructor can contact you about scheduling your student to drive. Students must be in good academic standing (passing 75% of their courses) to take the class and must maintain these same grade standards after completing the course in order to obtain and keep their driving privileges. We want all students to have an opportunity to take Driver's Education and I will do my absolute best to get students into one of our classes in a timely manner.
