    Courtney B. Phelps, MA, LAT, ATC 

    Courtney has been employed as the Head Athletic Trainer at Currituck County High School since 2009. Courtney played softball and enjoyed all sports which sparked her athletic training interest in high school.  She studied Athletic Training at Barton College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2008. Upon graduating, she pursed a Master of Arts Degree in Health Education and Promotion at East Carolina University, completing the degree in 2011. In 2017, she was awarded the NCATA Secondary School Athletic Trainer of the Year award. She has worked in all levels of athletics, as well as in physical therapy clinics during the course of her ten years of practice. Courtney is involved with the NC Coaches Association's East-West All-Star Games and is the current Athletic Trainer for the Edenton Steamers.  In addition to her duties as an Athletic Trainer, Courtney is instructing sports medicine classes and continually developing a high school athletic training student aide program.  With the support of administration, boosters and parents, the athletic training program has evolved into a full scale healthcare service providing a wide range of care to the student-athletes at Currituck County High School.
