• Welcome to Mrs. Phillips' and Mrs. Kopp's

    1st Grade Class!

    Mrs. Phillips
I hope you have a WONDERFUL Day!!!
I am Michele Phillips and I am so excited to be your child's 1st Grade teacher this year!!!  This will be my 7th year teaching, and my 14th year working in Currituck County Schools :)))))
After graduating from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, I attended Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University. I earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and then began working full time as a Personal Banker with Central Fidelity Bank. In 1993, I married Jack and put my college career on hold. In 1995, I began my career as  a stay at home Momma to our two children, Kayla and Blaney. It is the best job I have ever had!!! Kayla is now an ECU Graduate (Class of 2017), and is working in Greenville (GO PIRATES) !!! Blaney is an Airman in the US Air Force - He is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He is a CCHS Graduate(Class of 2017). Yes, I am one Blessed and Proud Momma:)))
I began my teaching career as an Assistant in Mrs. Sandra Newbern's  Kindergarten classroom at Griggs Elementary. Through much encouragement from family and friends, I went back to college (ECSU) and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (with a concentration in Math). After Student Teaching at Moyock Elementary, I came to Jarvisburg as a Teacher Assistant. In January, 2013, I became a 4th grade teacher for the remainder of the year. And here we are today.
My family is my greatest treasure. We spend most of our time on or near the water - either at the beach or on the Currituck Sound, in the boat. Our two chocolate labs, Ellie May and Curri Faith, love the water even more than we do!!! I also enjoy photography (that is my other dream job),  watching my children follow their dreams,  camping, and spending time with friends. I come from a large family, and we are blessed to be able to spend a lot of quality time together.
I am looking forward to the time that we will share this year, as a FRAMILY,  teaching and learning in our classroom. It is my hope to learn from your children as much as I can, as well as encouraging them to be life long learners!!! Together we can help them grow into the AMAZING and UNIQUE individuals they were created to be.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns
