Welcome to Mrs. Phillips' and Mrs. Rideout's
1st Grade Class!
I hope you have a WONDERFUL Day!!!I am Michele Phillips and I am so excited to be your child's 1st Grade teacher this year!!! This will be my 10th year teaching, and my 17th year working in Currituck County Schools :)))))After graduating from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, I attended Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University. I earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and then began working full time as a Personal Banker with Central Fidelity Bank. In 1993, I married Jack and put my college career on hold. In 1995, I began my career as a stay-at-home Momma to our two children, Kayla and Blaney. It is the best job I have ever had!!! Kayla is now an ECU Graduate (Class of 2017), and is working in Law Enforcement (GO PIRATES) !!! Blaney is an Airman in the US Air Force - He and his wife, Krystal, are back home in Currituck...Home Sweet Home!!! He is a CCHS Graduate(Class of 2017). Yes, I am one Blessed and Proud Momma:)))I began my teaching career as an Assistant in Mrs. Sandra Newbern's Kindergarten classroom at Griggs Elementary. Through much encouragement from family and friends, I went back to college (ECSU) and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (with a concentration in Math). After Student Teaching at Moyock Elementary, I came to Jarvisburg as a Teacher Assistant. In January, 2013, I became a 4th grade teacher for the remainder of the year. And here we are today. I have taught 4th grade, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. 1st Grade is my favorite, and I am so excited to be teaching your child this year.My family is my greatest treasure. We spend most of our time on or near the water - either at the beach or on the Currituck Sound, in the boat. I also enjoy photography (that is my other dream job), watching my children follow their dreams, camping, and spending time with friends. I come from a large family, and we are blessed to be able to spend a lot of quality time together.I am looking forward to the time that we will share this year, as a FRAMILY, teaching and learning in our classroom. It is my hope to learn from your children as much as I can, as well as encouraging them to be lifelong learners!!! Together we can help them grow into the AMAZING and UNIQUE individuals they were created to be.Helpful Websiteswww.zearn.orgwww.raz-kids.com
