I am looking forward to a great year! We have many new and exciting things planned for your child this school year. This will be year twenty-one in eduation for me.   I graduated with a BS degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from East Carolina. I also have a Master's degree in Elementary Education. This will be my sixteenth year in Currituck County.  I did my student teaching in 3rd grade and have taught 1st and 2nd grade prior to this year.  I also have a Reading Recovery certification.

I have one child of my own and love spending as much time possible outside playing with him. Please come visit our classroom anytime. If you can volunteer, please let me know. We would be so happy to have you!

    Things to Remember
    • Please label your child's belongings.
    • Please send a written excuse explaining the reason for his/her absence.
    • Please make sure your child knows his/her lunch number and keep accounts up to date to avoid charges.
    • Please be sure to wear tennis shoes for P.E. We will rotate between music, library, and P.E.
    • Students will be bringing important information and work home from the previous week in a Jarvisburg folder every Monday. This folder will include a weekly homework calendar with assignments and upcoming events for the week. Students will bring this folder home nightly with homework. Please return it each day. If your child has changes in their regular transportation you MUST send a note.

    Estimation Jar

Each week one student from our class will be responsible for providing something to put in our "Estimation Jar." When it is your child's turn, he/she will bring home the empty jar. Please help your child fill it with 20-100 of the SAME item. Examples of things are popcorn kernels, cotton balls, Q-tips, etc. You may also send in wrapped "treats" which could be shared with the class after our estimating activity is complete. The jar will come home on Monday and needs to be returned by Wednesday. Thank you for your help with this on-going math activity.  Numbers will increase each nine weeks.
