VideoMeet the Library Media Specialist...Mary Simmons! My name is Mrs. Mary Simmons and I am excited to be a Jarvisburg Jaguar! I am a graduate of the University of Richmond (GO SPIDERS!!), and have a master's degree in library science from Old Dominion University (GO MONARCHS), and am a National Board Certified Library Media Specialist. I have been in education for 35 years. I started my career as a junior high school social studies teacher at Indian River Middle School in Chesapeake, then I went to Crestwood Elementary School as their library media specialist. After a few years, I moved to Griggs Elementary School library for many years, then to Currituck Middle School library for two years, then Currituck County High School (GO KNIGHTS!) for 14 years (including a year plus a bit teaching AP US History). I am lucky this year to be a Jarvisburg Jaguar, and your library teacher AKA library media specialist! I love history, reading, research, and NASCAR! I was lucky enough this year to get a picture with Richard Petty (the third time I have met him). I look forward to being your library teacher!
