    My name is Debbie Dowdy and I am a 1979 graduate of Currituck County High School. I have been married to my best friend and former classmate Billy Dowdy for 34 years.  We have a beautiful daughter Jessica, who graduated from JP Knapp Early College High School in 2012 and Campbell University.  GO CU CAMELS! 
     
    As a graduate of Currituck County High School and a former student at Griggs Elementary School, it is an honor to be a part of this school system.  I began as a substitute teacher in 1997 which renewed my desire to be a teacher.  I went back to college at ECSU and obtained my Bachelor Degree in  K-6 Education. I have taught 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and now 1st grade..  I also taught Title 1 for 5 years  and received certification to teach Reading Recovery in 2012.
