I would like to briefly introduce myself to those of you who do not know me. I have been teaching Kindergarten at Central Elementary School since 2003. I graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a BS in Psychology, and I also received my license in Elementary Education. Prior to teaching in Currituck, I worked in the Virginia Beach School system for 7 years as a Teacher Assistant and a Substitute Teacher. I love Kindergarten!!!
I would also like you to know that it is a privilege to be your child’s teacher this year!!! I am looking forward to having a fantastic year. I set very high expectations for each and every one of my students and I encourage them constantly to do the very best they can do and to be strong leaders.
Our classroom thrives off of positive reinforcement. We are a classroom of "Bucket Fillers" and leaders. In the beginning of the year we read the story, Have You Filled A Bucket Today?, by Carol McCloud. We love this story and read it over and over again throughout the year. By doing and saying kind things we learn that those gestures can make ourselves and others feel important and loved. Each time we do and say nice things we put a drop in another person's imaginary bucket and also one in our own bucket. People with full buckets feel great! Each time we do or say something hurtful, we dip into that person's bucket and also our own bucket. This makes us and another feel sad. We don't like to be "Dippers" in Kindergarten. We learn to be "Bucket Fillers" and good leaders and we are really good at it by the time June rolls around! So each day when your child comes home from school ask him/her what they did to fill another's bucket throughout the day. You may be pleasantly surprised!
I am very fortunate to share an outstanding Teacher Assistant with the other Kindergarten. Mrs. Jessica Montanye has been with us for the past several years and we don't know what we'd do without her. We really appreciate all that she does for us in Kindergarten! If you happen to see her, please thank her for all of her hard work!
We love to have company at school. Please feel free to stop by and visit us throughout the year.  I am looking forward to meeting each of you and thank you for giving me the privilege of teaching your child this year! If you have any questions, concerns or advice please feel free to contact me at 453-0010 or email me at kstadler@currituck.k12.nc.us

Thanks again and welcome to Kindergarten!
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Kathleen Stadler
