Welcome to a New Year!  My name is Wendy Burgett and I am with the Title I reading program.  Title I is a federally funded program that began in 1965 to provide assistance to children needing additional help in communication skills.  In 2006, I completed my Masters in Elementary Education and am certified to teach K-6.  I graduated from East Carolina University in 1987 with a B.A. in Foreign Arts and Literatures; with a Spanish major and a French minor.  I will provide one-on-one assistance, small literacy support groups, classroom inclusion when needed and specific, targeted skill-based instruction as needed.  In conjunction with the classroom teacher, I will provide instructional assistance to help your student become an independent reader and writer.

I am also one of the school leads for MTSS (Multi Tiered System of Support).  More information regarding this can be found on the district homepage under the Instruction tab at the top of the page.
