I am thrilled to be teaching second grade this year!  I am blessed to be with such a great team of second grade teachers in this beautiful school.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron in May 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I earned National Board Certification in 2011.  I began as the Title I reading teacher for third through fifth grade. I then taught second grade for two years and nine years as a third grade teacher. I am very happy to be back for a third year in second grade!
Teaching your child is both a privilege and an enormous responsibility. Having three children of my own, I understand how important your child's education is to you. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing this year with you and your child. I hope that your child's year with me is memorable and full of growth.

Please spend 15 minutes reading each day.

A word list will be sent home at the beginning of each week. Each nights activities are located on the word list.

Basic addition and subtraction facts should be reviewed each night.

We will be studying weather and matter over the course of the first nine weeks. Have your child watch a weather report. Observe and discuss weather changes and temperature.

The kitchen is a great place to learn about the three states of matter. When water boils it becomes a gas. Show your child the steam rising from a pot on the stove. Ice is a solid that can change into a liquid if left out.
