I graduated from North Carolina State University home of the "Wolfpack" in 1983 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice. I worked for the Commonwealth's Attorneys Office in Virginia Beach, Virginia for five years and then decided to stay at home with my daughter. In 1997 I obtained my license to teach K - 6th grades from Elizabeth City State University. I began my teaching career with Currituck County Schools in 1998 at Knapp Elementary School. The next year I transferred to Knotts Island and taught sixth grade for ten years. I also taught fourth grade for eight years and now beginning my second year in the second grade.
My goal is to help your child become a life time learner and articulate a vision for learning 21st century skills. We are very fortunate at Knotts Island to have the technology tools available so students can learn academic content through real - world examples.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the school year. Open communication between the teacher and parent will help make this a successful school year for your child. I will use this website to provide information weekly with homework assignments and other information to let you know what we are doing in our classroom.
