Classroom: 3rd Grade

Welcome to my teacher page! I have been teaching 3rd grade for a looong time - since 2002! I started school right here, at Knotts Island Elementary and stayed in Currituck County Schools all the way through high school. After that, I went to Tidewater Community College and then Virginia Wesleyan College. I taught third grade at St. John the Apostle Catholic School before coming back home to Knotts Island Elementary. There truly is no place like home, and I don't know of any other school that's quite as wonderful as this one. I'm lucky to be able to work in a school that I love so much with such fantastic people.
Third grade is my favorite grade because students learn so many new things and I get to watch them grow as independent "older" kids. I love reading and one of my favorite things in this world is to watch students fall in love with books. It makes my day when my students are surprised that the school day is over because, "It's gone by so fast!" That's when I know they've had fun, learned a lot, and been too busy to watch the clock.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, going for walks, gardening, and playing with my many cats.
