•  KIES Media and Technology Program

Our students need a variety of literacy experiences to be prepared for their future. Learning to read a book is different than reading a webpage. Visual literacy and Internet skills such as navigation, keyboard skills, keyword searches, and finding reliable information are critical for preparing our students for the real world. Having appropriate online skills as well as face-to-face social skills are equally essential for getting along with others in our society. That’s why our media and technology program supports content learning with information literacy skills.

Our program is called a fixed—flex media center. Mrs. Haskell provides open library times for checkouts and special requests for activities from teachers. Also, each class has a scheduled time twice a week in the media center for lessons in library use, typing skills, research projects, internet safety, creating multi-media projects, learning computer coding and story time!
