    6th Grade Math

    (252) 435-2566, ext. 9042

    Educational Background
I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and moved to Currituck in 2005.  I attended Virginia Beach City schools, and graduated from Kellam High School in 1991.  In 2000, I graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelors degree in Education.  I am certified to teach all core subjects,K-6.  I began my teaching career at Knotts Island Elementary in 2000, and I joined the family at Moyock Middle in 2002.  The 2017-2018 school year will be my 19th year of teaching, all of which have been with Currituck County Schools.
We will be using Open Up Resources as our main teaching tool for math.  On their site, you will find student materials and parent/student support. Students will use this program in class and at home to complete work.
Students will have a consumable workbook to use in class.  The workbook must stay in class, but is also accessible online.
The following is a link to the Open Up Resources.  The information you need can be found at the bottom right of the page.  Feel free to take a look at what your child will be learning this year.

PowerSchool and Google Classroom are other great tools to keep up with your child. Once we get into a regular routine in the classroom, I will have Google Classroom set up so parents and students can follow what we are working on in class.
Please see the Student Handbook to view the Grading and Late Work Policies.  This will also be stated on our 2018-2018 Welcome letter.
