• John Parkman was raised in Norfolk, Virginia, where he graduated from Norview High School. He played soccer while attending Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education. He began his career with Norfolk Public Schools teaching English at Norview High School, where he also coached soccer and wrestling. He received a Master of Science in secondary school administration from Old Dominion in 1992. After 12 years of teaching, he became a dean of students at Norview High School. In 2000, he came to Virginia Beach City Public Schools as the assistant principal of Open Campus. He served in that capacity at Open Campus until February 2003 when he was appointed as the interim principal. In 2005 he was appointed as the principal of Center for Effective Learning, which is now part of Renaissance Academy. He then spent ten years as the principal of Landstown Middle School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He now joins us as principal of Currituck County Middle School - proud to be a Raider!
