• Mrs. Cowan is entering her 17th year as an educator and brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences to her role as the Principal. As a military wife, she has had the opportunity to live and work many places. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Metro Atlanta after graduating from North Georgia College in 1995 with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. From there, the military carried her family to Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, and California where she continued to teach in elementary schools. 
    In 2005, Mrs. Cowan moved to Clearwater, Florida where she began working in an administrative capacity serving as a Title 1 Facilitator and an Achievement Specialist. She earned her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University in 2007. The following year she became the Assistant Principal of an elementary school serving over 950 students for three years. From there she moved to Mobile, AL where she began working on her Ed.D. in Administrative Leadership for Teaching and Learning from Walden University.
    Her most recent move is what brought her Currituck County. She taught 6th Grade English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science for two years at River Road Middle School in Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools. She moved over to join Currituck County Schools where she taught 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts here at CCMS before moving into an administrative role.
