     Club Overview:

J.P. Knapp E.C.H.S. students participate each year in the North Carolina Science Olympiad Regional Competition (with some students moving onto the state and national levels depending on competition placement). Students choose from specific events focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The North Carolina Science Olympiad organization describes their tournaments as, “rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging and inquiry-based events that are well balanced between the various disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and technology.” Additionally, “the challenging and self-motivating events of NCSO align with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study as well as the National Science Education Standards. The events are designed to enhance and strengthen both science content and process skills.”

     Club Meetings:

The J.P. Knapp Science Olympiad Club is scheduled to meet each month during club days or during 3rd Lunch as needed, starting in October, in Mrs. Turner's classroom (B1).
