I have been teaching English language arts at Currituck County High School since January 1995. A native Tar Heel, I attended and graduated from JH Rose in Greenville, NC. From there, I completed three years of college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before joining Youth With A Mission and traveling with this non-profit international missions organization for two and a half years. I chose to finish my undergraduate work at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in English and Social Studies Education in December 1994. Since that time, I have added state AIG licensure, and I successfully renewed my National Board Certification in Adolescent Young Adult/English Language Arts---the second time in December 2021. Most recently, I am pursuing my Master's in English with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition through online coureses at East Carolina University. In addition to my love of teaching, I enjoy international traveling and have visited England, Germany, Poland, Israel, China, Uruguay and Brazil. My therapy is lap swimming at the YMCA and in warmer weather, I kayak. Free time is not something I have too much of as I live and care for my elderly parents, but when I do have a few minutes, I write, read, cook, and enjoy the company of my family. I look forward to working with you this year for a successful journey through English language arts.
