- J.P. Knapp Early College
- Welcome
-
I was born in Houston, Texas, where I lived until 2000. Since
2003, I have lived in North Carolina. I graduated from
Charles H. Milby High School from the Petro-Chemical Institute
focusing on laboratory experiments, research, and studies, while holding
an internship with the Exxon Chemical Plant. I joined the
U.S. Navy in 1990 as an Electronics Technician and retired in 2016 as
a Surface Warfare Officer. I have traveled and enjoyed the cultures
in over thirty countries in four continents.
I attended both the University of Houston and Rice University.
I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics with a minor
in History, along with credits in Naval Science. I earned my
Master of Science Degree in Information Systems and Operations
and my certification in Information System Security Accreditation
from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
I also earned my Joint Professional Military Education Certification
Phase I and II through the Naval War College and the
Joint Forces Staff College. While serving as the Section Chief of the Nation
Interaction Team at NATO's Strategic Command, Allied Command Transformation,
in Norfolk, Virginia, I helped build NATO's membership through the accession
and integration program and the annual Chief of Transformation Conference.
As Commander of American Legion Post 531, I also serve as
Charter Organization Representative of Troop 182 and Pack 531,
while serving as a volunteer and/or member with Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Knights of Columbus, the Navy League, and Naval War College Foundation.
I enjoy traveling and the outdoors, especially hiking and camping
in the mountains.
I believe that Mathematics is one of the subjects that all children
should strive to understand and master, as it is critical to a
successful career and life.
I am excited to teach Math I and Foundations of Math here at JPK.
Please, contact me with any questions/concerns.
