LT COL KEITH GRIMES
SENIOR AEROSPACE SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR
A native of northeastern North Carolina, I graduated from Gates County High School in 1979. I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Masters in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle University. I have taught and mentored young men and women for 22 years. I have extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, logistics, supply chain management and leadership which aligns perfectly with the AFJROTC “leadership and aerospace education curriculum”. As a parent and a mentor, I understand the challenges that face our youth today and understand reaching them is the key.
The Currituck County High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corp (AFJROTC) program is a course where cadets explore the intriguing world of aerospace science and have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills. In August 2006, NC-20061 opened its doors with 46 cadets enrolled. Today, the unit has grown to an impressive 150 strong.
AFJROTC is not about recruiting and is not a place for disciplinary problems--simply put the mission is to build better Americans. AFJROTC's mission is to instill good citizenship, responsibility and leadership in high school students. I am thrilled to be a member of “Team Currituck” and excited about the journey our cadets are about to embark upon. "One Team, One Fight."
