I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am from Huntington, WV, where I went to school and eventually to college. I graduated from Marshall University (Go Herd!) with a Bachelors Degree in Education K-8 Multisubject. During my college years, I worked at many different positions in education. I was a director at a Boys and Girls Club and also a special needs counselor at a residential group home.
After graduation, I decided to leave WV to be closer to the ocean. I began working in a licensed and accredited learning center and eventually moved into management. With this, I was trained on the business side and truly enjoyed it. After a few years, I was offered a position teaching middle school language arts. I found that while I loved to read, I loved computers and business more. I taught 9 more years in Gates County and taught keyboarding, word processing and tutored in computer skills.
In 2007, I accepted a position at Moyock Middle School. There, I taught many different business courses, from Keyboarding to Careers and Business Education. I also became the FBLA Adviser. I watched the students fall in love with business and compete and succeed. I was asked to become the NC FBLA State Middle Level Board Member. I am currently in my third term as that.
During the time I was at MMS, I taught college level Keyboarding, Word Processing and Advanced Word Processing at a private college. At JP Knapp I taught, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Project Mangement, Principles of Business, and Personal Finance.
I am excited to be in my new position coaching Career and Technical Educators and being a Curriculum Instructional Management Coordinator. I am sure it will show me a new side of CTE and Currituck High School.
