OVERVIEW OF CURRITUCK COUNTY SCHOOLS AIG PROGRAM
The Currituck County Plan for Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted Education is aligned with the goals set forth in the Currituck County Schools’s Strategic Plan and the State Board of Education’s guidelines for developing local AIG plans.
The 2022-2025 AIG plan was presented to the Currituck County Board of Education at the May, 2022 Work Session where it was approved. The Plan was then submitted to the State Board of Education prior to June 15, 2022.
Currituck County Schools’s AIG program will ensure a wide array of services to meet the students’ academic, intellectual, and social-emotional needs.
-
Students at the Elementary level will receive services through pull-out sessions 1-2 days per week in reading and math as well as opportunities for social-emotional growth and leadership.
-
Middle School students will participate in an elective course that encompasses a variety of topics that extend content standards for all core content, social-emotional growth, and development of leadership skills.
-
High School students will receive consultative services in order to ensure they are enrolled in the appropriate courses and are taking advantage of extra-curricular activities.
The AIG Facilitating Teachers will meet with teachers, students and parents to develop Differentiated Individualized Plans for each student that has been identified to receive services. If you have questions about your child’s program, please contact the AIG Facilitating Teacher for your child’s school.
