• 2022-23 School Year

    Welcome!  I am Patti Coffie, 6th grade math teacher at Currituck County Middle School!  This is my 36th year in the classroom and my 23nd in Currituck County Schools! I am excited to be at Currituck County Middle School for a sixth year after spending the previous 7 years as the Middle School AIG Coordinator for both of our county middle schools. We are going to have a GREAT year!!

    I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1987 from The State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh.  I also received a Masters of Science degree in Elementary/Middle School Education from Old Dominion University in 1995.  I earned AIG (gifted) state certification in 2005 and in 2009, I achieved National Board Certification, a professional level certification that both honors and recognizes the highest teaching standards. I worked to renew my National Board Certification and managed to complete that renewal in 2018!

    I currently live in Chesapeake, VA and my children are all grown! 

    My daughter Krysta graduated in 2014 from UNC Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) with a degree in Public Policy.  She recently bought her first house in St. Petersburg, FL, and is telecommuting for an automotive company in Los Angeles! She just got married December 2021!

    Kayla graduated NC State (Go Wolfpack!) in May 2017 with a degree in Polymer and Color Chemistry.  Shealso recently bought her first house in Wake Forest!  She is working at Research Triangle Park as a consulting chemist and got married October 2020!

    Colin graduated in 2019 from JP Knapp Early College High School and COA with an Associate's degree in Engineering. He is currently attending UNC Charlotte (Go 49er!) and will complete his Bachelor's degree in Cyber Technology in December 2022! 

    All three kids have been through the Currituck County Schools. So I can not only see the teacher point of view, but I have been there as a parent as well! 

    I can't wait to get to know all of the students!  I look forward to working with all of you and I am sure we will have a very productive year!
