Welcome to room 405! My name is Shannon Hill and I will be working as the K-2 Exceptional Children's teacher. I would like to take a moment and introduce myself as I will be working with your child this school year. This will be my fifth year working as a resource teacher here at Shawboro Elementary.
I am originally from Northern California. I have been married to my husband Ben for 18 years and his military career is what landed us in Currituck! We have three awesome boys. They are ages 15, 14, and my youngest is 9 and attends SES.
I was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 11 years. During this time I was a state licensed and navy certified home day care provider. It was this career that made me realize my love and passion for working with children. I chose to return to school to become a teacher. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education in December 2014. I earned my Masters of Education in Special Education in October 2016, and am currently working towards earning my Masters in Teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and will be complete by Jan 2020. You can say I am a life long learner! I enjoy researching and learning new strategies to support the academic and social growth of my students.
I am excited to be a participating team member in your child’s educational journey. My goal is to provide enhanced educational support to help meet your child’s unique learning needs. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and helping them grow to their fullest learning potential this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or (252) 232-2237 ext. 6048 should you have any concerns regarding your child’s learning or progress.
