    2022-2023 School Year

    Hello Kindergarten Families!

My name is Shannon Hill and I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten this school year!

While this will be my first year teaching Kindergarten, it is my eighth year teaching here at Shawboro Elementary. I am certified in K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Special Education, and K-12 Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary and Special Education, a masters degree in Special Education, and a second masters in Special Education focused on teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing. You can say I am a lifelong learner! I enjoy researching and learning new strategies to support the academic and social growth of my students.

I am originally from Northern California. I have been married to my husband Ben for 21 years and his military career is what landed us in Currituck! We have three awesome boys who are 18, 17, and 12. I was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 11 years. During this time I was a state licensed and navy certified home daycare provider. It was this career that made me realize my love and passion for working with young children, so back to school I went to pursue a career in teaching!

I also want to introduce Mrs. Cartwright as she will be the teacher assistant in our classroom this year! This is Mrs. Cartwright’s 4th year here at Shawboro working with K-1 students. She has been married to her husband Brady for 2 years and they have a 10 month old baby boy.

Both Mrs. Cartwright and I are excited to be a part of your child’s educational journey. We look forward to getting to know your child and creating a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment to help foster their academic and social/emotional growth this school year! Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at shill@currituck.k12.nc.us or (252) 232-2237 ext. 6048 should you have any concerns regarding your child’s learning or progress.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Hill
