• Effective January 29, 2021, the CDC issued a federal “Order” requiring face coverings on all “conveyances” with limited exceptions such as private vehicles.  The federal government clearly takes the position that school buses (yellow and activity) are covered by the CDC Order.  Federal law takes precedence over any state law, guidance or recommendations and the federal CDC Order does mandate the use of face coverings on school buses.  Face coverings are optional at school but required on the bus. However, a parent/guardian may request a face covering exception for the following reasons: 

    • Anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious 
    • Anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance  
    • Anyone who cannot tolerate a cloth face covering due to developmental, medical or behavioral health needs
