Ms. Monroe
THANKS  for taking the time to visit our site today! I'm very excited about being a part of the team at Central Elementary School and to have a classroom of  2nd Grade Rockstars! I have been a teacher for 37 years. My husband and I have been married for 38 years and have been blessed with 5 wonderful children. We have 1 girl and 4 boys. Our children are 32, 31, 28, 26 and 12 years old. I have a 4 year old grandson that makes my eyes sparkle!  My husband and I grew up together in Pennsylvania. In 1985, I earned my BA in Elementary Education in Arizona where I began my teaching career. During the time that my children were preschoolers, I worked with children and families in their homes to assist them with developmental and educational delays instead of working in the classroom so I could be at home with them. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and K-6th grade Gifted Education.     In 2003, I earned my Masters' Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Gannon University in Pennsylvania. Twelve years ago we were incredibly blessed to be given the gift and experience of adopting our youngest son. At that time, we made the decision that I would  stay home with him until he was ready to begin school. I started working for Currituck County Schools 7 years ago.  My husband and I love living in Currituck County!   I like to spend my time with my husband, children and grandson.  I own and operate Monroe Country Kennels and have a little mini farm. I love my animals! I enjoy scrapbooking, swimming, taking walks on the beach, relaxing on the boat and catching a few fish. My personal goals for your child: To take the time each day to embrace the uniqueness of each child... To slow down long enough to express to them just how special they are... To make certain they know that our day is happier and brighter because they were a part of it... and for the children to be able to instinctively answer, "I AM" when asked this question: "Who is the GREATEST?"
Please feel free to come and visit our classroom virtually for now... and be prepared to laugh, learn, play, sing and dance along with us as we spend our days in school making every moment COUNT!
