2021-2022 School Year
Hello! My name is Shannon Hill and I will be co-teaching Kindergarten in the mornings with Mrs. Brown this school year. I am excited for this opportunity and looking forward to getting to know and working with our kindergarten students! I also serve as the Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher for Currituck County Schools. I will be working as an itinerant teacher for the DHH students across the district in the afternoons.
This will be my seventh year teaching here at Shawboro Elementary. I am certified in K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Special Education, and K-12 Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education, a masters degree in Special Education, and a second masters in Special Education focused on teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing. You can say I am a lifelong learner! I enjoy researching and learning new strategies to support the academic and social growth of my students.
I am originally from Northern California. I have been married to my husband Ben for 20 years and his military career is what landed us in Currituck! He is approaching retirement and we will call Currituck our home permanently! We have three awesome boys who are 17, 16, and 11.
I was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 11 years. During this time I was a state licensed and navy certified home daycare provider. It was this career that made me realize my love and passion for working with children. I chose to return to school to become a teacher.
I am excited to be a participating team member in your child’s educational journey. My goal is to provide enhanced educational support to help meet your child’s unique learning needs. I do realize our kiddos face varying challenges with the virtual learning platform, I am here for both you and your child. Please communicate any concerns or needs you may have!
I look forward to getting to know you and your child while helping them grow to their fullest learning potential this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at email@example.com or (252) 232-2237 ext. 6042 should you have any concerns regarding your child’s learning or progress.
