Dr. Justin A. Durham
It is an honor to be able to serve as Principal of Currituck County High School for the 2021-2022 school year.
This will be my 16th year as an educator. My educational background began with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Education from Paine College. I also have a Master of Arts in Teaching and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cambridge College. Finally, I earned a Ph.D in Educational Leadership from Capella University.
At CCHS we take great pride in the academic courses that we offer our students. As our district's traditional comprehensive high school, CCHS serves approximately 1,050 students in grades 9-12. We provide each student an extensive selection of courses and academic programs to choose from, including college prepatory, career and technical education, as well as honors and advanced placement classes. Our instructional day operates on a 4X4 block schedule with 85 minutes per class period. In addition to traditional instruction on the 4X4 block, a Power Time offers students 25 minutes each day for other instructional oppportunities, including tutoring, clubs, special topics, and/or engaging in physical activities or socialization.
Our faculty and staff are here to support the community stakeholders of Currituck County. We have a vision for the school of U-"Knight"-ing for Excellence so that all students have an equitable opportunity to not only learn, but to thrive once they leave to join the postsecondary community.
Again, it would be an understatement to say that I am excited about the school year. We are thrilled to have students back in the building. If at any time you have a questions or concern, please let us know. We are here to ensure that our students are prepared to be college and career ready upon graduation.
We are going to have a fantastic school year! I am and will always be a Knight.
