Currituck County Schools' NCPK Preschool Program

Currituck County Schools provides a NC PreK sponsored pre-kindergarten classrooms, located at Central Elementary School and Jarvisburg Elementary School.

The goal of this program is to provide early intervention to potentially at-risk students before they enter kindergarten. The class is limited to 18 students so that a certified teacher and a full time teacher assistant can work closely with these children to develop the necessary readiness skills to be successful when they enter kindergarten.

The NCPK Preschool Program accepts applications for the current and upcoming school year.  Applications for the upcoming school year can be obtained from any mainland elementary school, Currituck County Schools' Registrar's Office (located at Central Elementary), or from the Central Office of Currituck County Schools. Completed applications must be returned to Rebecca Palumbo at the Central Office prior to June for consideration for placement for the upcoming school year.

Contact Rebecca Palumbo, Preschool Coordinator, at (252) 232-2223 for more information.

NCPK preschool children must be 4 years old on or before August 31 of the school year being applied for and meet other eligibility requirements to qualify for the program. Parents or Guardians should be prepared to provide the child's original birth certificate, updated shot records, and recent physical verification form once they are deemed eligible.
