School Closing/Delay Information
-
Should adverse weather conditions or other emergencies require school closure, delay, or an early release, parents/guardians and staff members will receive a BrightArrow* Alert call/message and email.
Currituck County Schools (CCS) will also post the information to our district website homepage and Facebook page.
CCS additionally shares closing and delay information with local TV Stations (WTKR-3, WAVY-10, and WVEC-13). Once the information is shared, announcements are posted at each station's discretion.
In the case of school delays, the school schedule may be delayed up to three hours. If your child rides the bus, the bus will pick up your child one to three hours later than the usual pick-up time.
Considering the weather's unpredictability and the fact that forecasts can change quickly, CCS makes every effort to provide announcements as far in advance as possible so that students, parents/guardians, and staff members can plan accordingly. No announcement means that school will operate on its regular schedule.
*BrightArrow is the notification system allowing our school district to personally communicate with parents/guardians about emergency situations, school events, school closings and delays, and other important information. Parent/Guardian contact information is pulled directly from our Student Information System, PowerSchool. It is important that your child's school has up-to-date contact information to ensure that your family can receive CCS announcements.
