Winter is a big season for head lice. The best measure is prevention. Please teach your child not to share hats, brushes, scarves or hair accessories to prevent the spread of lice. Be vigilant and check your child's head weekly. If you do find lice, check every member of the household and treat accordingly. Use an effective head lice treatment and remove all nits (lice eggs). Wash clothes, bed linens and towels. Soak all combs and brushes in hot water and vacuum everywhere. Any items that cannot be washed in hot water should be tied up in trash bags for 2 weeks.
Please notify the school nurse if your child has lice so we can properly clean the classroom in order for no other children to contract them. The privacy of all students will be maintained.Every student with head lice must be checked by the school nurse before returning to school and riding the bus.If you have any questions, feel free to call or stop by my office Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
