A little about me:
After observing strong, strategic leadership throughout my educational career, my leadership strategy focuses on using innovation and motivation to inspire others to lead. Helen Kellar once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." That's why in everything I do, I strive to do it with a purposeful team approach, remembering to gather feedback along the way to inform my instruction.
I first began my educational career thirteen years ago after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from UNC-Greensboro as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. Beginning first with Special Education in 2004, I then taught 10th grade English while also serving as Department Chair at Harnett Central High School for the next couple of years. After my husband and I had our first son, Kaleb, I worked as Director of Education at a well-known tutoring company for several years and learned the importance of a personalized education. Shortly after the birth of our second son Karter in 2010, I received the North Carolina Principal Fellows Scholarship, which allowed me to earn my Masters of School Administration from North Carolina State University in 2015. I chose Willow Springs Elementary in Wake County to complete my Administrative Internship, and learned strong leadership tactics from one of the most reputable and genuine administrative teams around. After completing my internship, fate brought me to Currituck County, where I got to be closer to one of my first loves--the beach! After serving as Assistant Principal at Currituck County High School, I then returned to the elementary world in 2016 where I became Assistant Principal at Moyock Elementary. Learning alongside the wise Mrs. Whitney Bisbing, who retired as Principal of MES in 2017, I am honored to now take the reigns as leader.
If you ever need an ear or just want to talk through a situation, please don't hesitate to contact either myself or a member of the MES staff. Since it takes a village, our team will work together to achieve our common goal of ensuring our students' success.
