    The 2024-2025 school year is upon us. Welcome to 7th grade. 
     
    Hello, my name is Curtis Horne and I will be your child’s 7th Grade Social Studies teacher this year. 
     
    My teaching career began in the fall of 2001 when I taught 4th grade in Edenton-Chowan. It was interesting to teach all subjects and to be able to see the connections between them. I want our students to see the connections interwoven throughout ALL subject areas. My goal is to help your child see and make those connections this year.
     
    After 4th grade in Edenton-Chowan, I started my middle school career here at Moyock Middle School in 2002. That was the first year Moyock Middle School was open.........OVER 20 YEARS AGO?!  While 7th grade Social Studies has been my home for the majority of my time here (thirteen years), eight of those years were spent in 8th grade Social Studies. In 2022, my journey as a teacher brought me to 6th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies. Some of the other roles I have played here at MMS have been as Coach for the Moyock Middle School Golf Team and as an Assistant Coach for Bulldog Baseball and Bulldog Football. Go BULLDOGS!
