Hello everyone and welcome to Preschool.  My name is Deidre Simmons and I am serving the preschool students in our county as the Preschool Coordinator and NCPK Program Administrator.  I have been teaching for 28 years.  I earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from North Carolina Central University, located in Durham, North Carolina.  I have add on certification in Birth- Kindergarten and Early Childhood through grade 4. In November of 2010 I earned National Board Teacher Certification!   I worked in the Birth to 3 population for 4 years, serving infants and toddlers in the home environment before coming to Currituck County in 1993 and beginning my work with the 3-5 year old preschool population. This year I will be servicing all preschoolers in our district in our local classrooms or providing support to our local daycares and privately owned preschools and home centers.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's development please do not hesitate to contact me at 252-453-0205 ext. 1037.  I look forward to working with families and students this year, watching them soar!!
