• Welcome to Ms. Raftery's First-Grade Class!

     

     

    Hi! I am Mrs. Raftery! This is my third year of teaching at MES, but my 20th year of teaching! Other than North Carolina, I have taught in England, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Mississippi, California, and Hawaii in grade first through fourth. I am married to a sailor in the Navy and have 2 boys! Shane is 11 years old and Bryce is 8 years old. They also go to MES! We recently got a puppy! Our Shepweiler, Arya, is 7 months old and a super sweet girl. I went to Penn State University for my Bachelor’s Degree and Wilkes University for my Master’s Degree. I love fall and especially Penn State Football! I was born and raised in York, PA and am very proud of my former state's history.


    Dolphins and sloths are my favorite animals! I also love to scrapbook, go for walks, read and watch movies. Science is my favorite subject, and I especially enjoy teaching others how to help our environment. I love teaching here at MES! I believe in having a safe environment where my students learn and grow together. I also strive to differentiate instruction as much as possible so all children can find success. We have an amazing first grade team here at MES, and we are thankful for our wonderful students and parents. We are stronger together!
