Welcome to Reading Recovery and Title 1 Services!

I am excited to have the privilege of serving our Mallard families again this year! I am looking forward to teaming with you, your students, your children's classroom teacher, and other GES support staff. If I serve your student, I will be in touch, regularly, to keep you informed and to support your efforts at home. I welcome and encourage your input, as well.

I'm a native of VA. I grew up in the Tidewater area but have now lived in Currituck County for 21 years. All four of my children attended Currituck County Schools. I'm happy to be able to give back to my community. My husband, Don, is retired Navy. While raising our own children, I taught Sunday school and directed VBS programs at our church. That is how I learned my professional calling. While finishing my degree, I directed and taught our church's preschool program. I've been teaching in NC public schools ever since.

This is my 13th year teaching and my 10th as a Reading Recovery Teacher. I spent my first six years at Central Elementary in Elizabeth City, then four years at Shawboro Elementary. This is my 3rd year at GES. I'm thrilled to support our Mallards at GES again this year through Reading Recovery, Title 1, and MTSS services. I enjoy working with my colleagues, our students, and our families.

I LOVE ClassDojo! It will be my primary means of communicating with families whose children I serve. I will share everything from quick notes to announcements on the Class Story, and even photos, videos, and student work samples there.
