at Jarvisburg Elementary look on as colleague, Carly Osmon, facilitates student
discussion of a vocabulary pre-activation strategy. This activity was
part of a reading comprehension lesson focused on comparing and contrasting
details presented by two informational texts. JES teachers are experimenting
with learning walks as a way to grow in their knowledge and skill for
implementing best teaching practices. By observing the parts of a 90
minute reading block in action, educators learn from each other's strengths to
improve on their own instruction.
