GES Students Create Newsletter

Highlighted during the Currituck County Board of Education’s March meeting were students from Dr. W. T. Griggs Elementary School who have worked through their AIG (Academically and Intellectually Gifted) program to create a bi-monthly newsletter for the school.  Students from Mrs. Sandra Reynolds’ AIG class shared the evolution of the project as well as responsibilities and tools utilized by the students throughout the writing and publishing process.  Electronic copies are disseminated to parents via “Class Dojo” announcements; to staff and students through email; and hard copies are placed in each classroom and the office for anyone who may not have access to the newsletter through electronic devices.  Students report how much they enjoy writing articles about newsworthy activities going on in their classrooms.  They also admit, they love seeing their names in the paper!
