Welcome to Knotts Island Elementary School

Knotts Island is a small rural community surrounded by the beautiful waters of Knotts Island Bay and the Currituck Sound. An abundance of woods and marshes on the adjacent Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge, create an atmosphere of beauty and tranquility. Educators find this setting perfect for conveying an understanding and appreciation of our area's uniqueness. Situated in the heart of this isolated community is Knotts Island Elementary School, home of the Woodducks. Knotts Island Elementary is a K-5 school with approximately 105 students.

  • Knotts Island Feasibility Study: Parent Survey for 2015-16 and Beyond
Thank you to all of the Knotts Island parents who braved the weather and attended the special Board of Education Meeting held at Knotts Island Elementary on 1/12/15!  We appreciate all of your questions, comments, and suggestions.  As was stated at the meeting, the Board and district administration is conducting a feasibility study to determine if parents may choose the middle school their child will attend in 2015-16 and beyond.  In addition, we are collecting information related to the number of preschool aged students currently residing on Knotts Island to determine if additional preschool services can be provided in the future. Please share this information with your neighbors who may not have students in our school at this time!
Please read the letter from Superintendent Allison Osmon below and complete the survey by March 1, 2015.
Surveys can be returned to your child's school, mailed/faxed to the central office, or emailed to Yvette Jones, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.
